GTEC Accredits UEAS

The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has formally accredited the newly established University of Engineering and Agricultural Sciences (UEAS) to offer eight (8) programmes. Following a comprehensive review of the curricula of the eight (8) programmes by experts in the respective area, UEAS has been granted Programme Accreditation to run these eight (8) undergraduate programmes in two (2) schools.

The School of Engineering will offer Bachelor of Science degrees in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Industrial Engineering. Concurrently, the School of Agricultural Sciences will provide Bachelor of Science degrees in Agronomy, Animal Science, Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness, as well as Food Technology and Nutrition Science.

The university is set to commence operations with an initial one hundred (100) recruited staff who have undergone the necessary institutional orientation and training. UEAS is in the process of admitting its inaugural cohort students who will start their programme in November 2026, as approved by the Ministry of Education.

In a letter dated 19th October, 2026 and addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, GTEC indicated that the accreditation is valid for a period of four (4) years from the date of this letter. Again, the programme accreditation will be subjected to periodic monitoring and re-accreditation by the Commission. The Commission congratulated the University Council, Management and staff on this milestone. The letter concluded that “we look forward to working with you as UEAS contributes to engineering and agricultural education and to national development."

It is instructive to also note that UEAS has successfully undergone Institutional accreditation by GTEC.
